Center for Graduate Life and Learning
The Center for Graduate Life and Learning (CGLL) offers a number of programs and resources designed to support your efforts as a graduate student. The CGLL recognizes the competing demands in the lives of graduate students. In an effort to accommodate different professional needs and schedules, the CGL’s professional development initiatives are offered in various formats ranging from specialized, credit-bearing GRAD professional skills courses to virtual training.
Located in the Atkins Library Annex, Room 149 (across the hall from the Career Center), the Center offers space to study, professional services, and academic programs designed to support your success as a graduate student. The CGL also offers valuable information on how to enjoy Charlotte. What does living in Charlotte look like? Whether you’re hoping for a break from the books with an outdoor adventure at the U.S. National Whitewater Center or would rather explore the city’s Night Life, Charlotte’s Got a lot to offer its residents both young and old. Known as the “International Gateway to the South”, Charlotte combines southern hospitality and diverse culture with cosmopolitan energy unlike anywhere else in the state.
Graduate and Professional Student Government (GPSG)
Graduate & Professional Student Government serves as the primary representative body of graduate and professional students at UNC Charlotte. The organization is designed to meet the academic, social, and logistical needs of the graduate and professional student body, totaling more than 5,400 students, and all the registered Graduate Student Organizations. Each Graduate Student Organization is provided one vote on the GPSG Senate. GPSG offers support and funding for Graduate Student Organizations, and for individual student travel for professional conferences.
CONFERENCE TRAVEL
The department offers a limited amount of professional development travel awards for interested students who are in the School of Data Science Graduate programs. Students will be informed about upcoming conferences during the semester. If you are interested, you will be asked to submit a proposal to the Director of Student Services outlining the event you wish to attend and how the information gained from the event will benefit the department. If granted a travel award, you will be expected to present pertinent information to fellow students regarding key take-a-ways from the event upon your return.
University Career Center
The University Career Center (UCC) is a useful resource to consult during your job and career search process. UCC tools include job and internship opportunities (HireANiner), resume building, job shadowing, and full access to career fairs. For a full range of services, visit the University Career Center.
Office of Adult Students and Evening Services (OASES)
OASES provides a number of services to adults and evening students, including after-hours pickup and delivery of forms and tuition payments.
The International Student and Scholar Office (ISSO)
The ISSO provides information, services, and programs that help international students and visiting scholars achieve individual educational and personal goals and fosters an appreciation for a culturally diverse learning environment in the larger UNC Charlotte community.
