Registering for Courses
The Data Science and Business Analytics program continues to evolve to meet current industry needs. Therefore, the curriculum will continue to evolve throughout your studies. You can find current course offerings on my.uncc.edu under Banner Self-Service. For course descriptions, look under the Academics tab on this website, or in the Graduate School Catalog.
After selecting courses from the available options, all students need to request authorization(s) to register for the courses. To receive authorization to register, please contact Carly Mahedy, with the following information:
- Student ID #
- Course Title
- Course Registration Number (CRN#)
Not sure which courses to take? The best person to help you decide is your academic advisor. For PSM Students, access my.uncc.edu, My Records > Class Schedule > General Student Records. For Certificate students, contact the Director of Student Services.
The schedule of classes is found online in Banner Self Service. Students requesting course authorizations will need to email their 800 #, course title, and CRN # to the Director of Student Services for permits to be granted. Registration for Spring 2019 begins on November 5th, 2018. Current students should attend a group advising session or schedule a meeting with their advisor to discuss course options prior to registering.
Professional Development Opportunities
The PSM program works closely with the Center for Graduate Life to provide professional development opportunities tailored to the unique needs of graduate and professional students. A wide variety of free workshops are offered on topics including professional speaking, resume writing, and career preparation throughout the semester.
The department offers professional development travel awards for interested students who are in the Professional Science Masters Program. Students will be informed about upcoming conferences during the semester. If you are interested, you will be asked to submit a proposal to the Director of Student Services outlining the event you wish to attend and how the information gained from the event will benefit the department.
If granted a travel award, you will be expected to present pertinent information to fellow students regarding key take-a-ways from the event upon your return.
